This marks the first anniversary of a friendly competition to show off our home towns. I have chosen to dig through all of the posts I participated in and pick the best of my shots (IMHO).
I encourage you to go and see everyone's contributions
here or
here.
My First week was Churches, and I think this image garnered more attention than any other:
Then we had People, and I picked our local homless man, who has since been joined by two others:
Houses were up next, and I felt less inspired:
Followed by graveyards and the beginning of my fascination with iron crosses:
And though many people liked the goslings, I preferred the squirrel:
Downtown was next on the list and I couldn't decide on the town where I now live:
Or the town where I grew up:
Next up were restaurants, and as I was combing through my posts - Barry's comment that he hadn't eaten solid food for a month at this point really made me pause. This was nearly a year ago, and he just recently completed chemo. What a long strange trip it's been.
Then there was the free for all theme:
Architecture was up next:
Followed by gardens:
Public Transit - and here is where I realize EXACTLY how many images I have to comb through, and that it is 10:23 at night, and I am tired, but still I go on ;-)
Paint The Town Red came next:
The next theme was and still is my favorite - Water:
Begins with M was up next:
Evidently, I had an emotional break last June and didn't participate very much in the shoot outs... But the next one I joined in on was Textures:
Reflections was up next:
Outdoor Food was next, and a bit of a twist from me:
Power (and my theme choice) was up next:
Relaxation had me breathing deeply:
Signs were next in line:
Incongrousness hit us all absurdly:
Aged and Weathered had me thinking of elderly, but I went with a safer set:
Domestic Animals got me a shot of my pup:
My Favorite Place to dream of:
Photo Study of a Building, and my fixed space for my current class:
Silhouettes was next:
Sunrise Sunset, and Fiddler on the Roof running through my head:
Classics of Childhood had me looking at Our Gang:
The entire month of November was all completely recycled, so the next original shoot out I put up was My Town Dressed for Christmas:
Under Construction brought out this shot:
Fences brought songs to my head, and this:
The Birds theme got me crowing:
Circles gave me great opportunities:
And Aquariums rounds out the year:
Whew that was a LOOOOooooooong post! Next year it will be a slide show!

Superb. A trip down memory lane.
Thanks for taking this approach and reminding us all where we've been. You picked some of my favorite shots of yours and some I don't remember but glad to see. It's really amazing how much work we have all invested in each other.
I am in sympathy for the work you did - multiply by 40 or so blogs and pulling 83 photos for the slide show/ renaming them so I knew whos they were and what topic then loading in the slide show and adding captions!
I am with Mark there are some favorites of your and some I don't remember at all, there were some weeks when I didn't make it all the way through the list of participants - I like mr linky much better. I like the squirrel best both times....
I enjoyed the long walk down the memory lane, superb pictures!
What an extremely cool post. You have been active before I was, and I am happy to have a chance to see photos that I missed. I am (rather foolishly) attracted to animal pics so I do really love it that you've bothered to photograph squirrels.
And that elephant with his/hers curved trunk. Nothing more beautiful.
Yikes!!! that cat with it's prize.
When I was in my teens, our cat was a fantastic mouser. The trouble was she always skinned the mouse and rats, and left them for me to make a fur coat. LOL
It was always me who cleaned the mess up. I don't know why, 8 siblings, and It was me. and I am real scared of mice and rats. My sisters now tell me, well, we were not bothered by them, so we just left them.
Great collections of photos and commentaries.
Next time you feel like have goose for dinner, let me know.
What a great idea! And what a lot of work. It was lovely to see some of my favorite shots again. To me, that squirrel shot is still an absolute cracker!
Wow J9 I like how you just took us down memory lane, and my fav is the water fall, so beautiful, of course all your photos are always gorgeous!

Your photos make me miss the good old days when I had time to participate. They made me both sad and happy. I am glad you are still among the members. You were one of the originals.
Hopefully, I will be able to participate one day.
Have a great week and weekend.
