Had a really good weekend in Nevada City and had a dream with this song in it. Woke up with this in my head and then saw the book in a bookstore on Broad St. Figured this should be my song for Monday:

So Shines A Good Deed In A Weary World

Today a tiny bit of my faith in humanity was restored when Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that California's Proposition 8 is unconstitutional. Of course there are already appeals, which was expected regardless of the decision. This will end up at the U.S. Supreme Court, and it is a hopeful waiting game for which I now hunker down. I do wonder as well if the whole "Repeal the 14th Ammendment" folks are also hoping that they deny minority rights while they kick babies out of this country.

"May You Live In Interesting Times" could not be more descriptive.

After the election, I posted this and I hope we can continue to support our friends, family members, and members of our community - the human community.

This weekend was GREAT. Swim Championships was great - our team moved up 2 spots with fewer swimmers and a shorter season, and one of my Nephews took 2 League Records - He totally rocks! All the kids had fun, and almost every single swimmer had personal best times on the same day. Now that swimming is over, time to shift focus to soccer, theater, school, and moving rooms for The Boys.

My own Shoot Out - Things That Barry Made Me Think Of

NanU recommended this topic, and I couldn't love it more! Barry Fraser was indeed an explorer of life, and it is that attitude I take forward. He was always reflecting on his town, his family, his dog/friend. He was looking forward while examining the past. He was well written and there were posts I could not wait to read. So much so, that I would stay up late, playing whatzit games with Gordon and checking for Barry's posts so that I could read more of his stories. Barry was encouraging of my photography, and I think a little in love with the idea of red hair and freckles (I know that Linda has these same features). When I think of Barry and Linda I can't help but smile.

Take some time today to appreciate your loves, your life, and your good fortune. I know I will

Music Monday and floating brain matter

Random thoughts about various things that have been floating around in my brain all week:

I am surprised by the level of violent thought that can come from an emotionally unstable grandmother one minute and the level of sadness the next.
Having my hair petted by a gorgeous blonde, while she purrs and winks is distracting in a good way. When she is your dear friend, it's more than distracting.
Finding out your newly acquainted friends like Focus on the Family is disappointing at best, but makes me question my ability to pick friends. I have lost friendships over far less, and it's left me wondering if this is worth it. It has also opened my eyes to the reality if my life in comparison to others.
Speaking up for myself feels good, and gets me more of what I want and less anger and resentment.
Life does indeed go on.

Barry - He passed away two days ago. Please send your loving energy to his family. And to see what a shining light he has been, visit his blog.
Audrey - She is on regular chemo and radiation and has had bone in her neck removed.
Jacob - a nearly 2 year old who's family is dealing as best they can with his recent diagnosis of Leigh Syndrome.
Maureen - She passed away a week ago at home. Send love and light to her boys and their families as they navigate lives devoid of the joy she brought to those around her.

Great News:
Hanan - She is getting around and doing too much because she feels so much better than her healing will allow - don't we all operate like this? Send her the energy she needs to keep up with her busy family!
