First off - welcome to another high concept music video from Haus of Gaga
The weekend was actually calm. The Boys had rehearsals for their DI tournament this up coming weekend. It was supposed to snow but didn't, furthering my prediction that it will only snow every 20-30 years. I managed to clean the bathrooms, including scrubbing top to bottom. All of the laundry got done and put away. The Talent Show was Friday night, which followed an all day field trip, and was really good, but a really tiring day. Found out one of The Boys friends is moving in around the corner, and they cannot wait! I signed The Boys up for swim team for this summer. I also cannot believe it is almost March.
Happy Monday all!

My Town Shoot Out - From The Hip
This week's Theme is courtesy of the My Town Shoot Out gang.
"From the Hip! That's right. Taken from the hip. Walk through a store or park or main street with your camera on your hip, shooting away!"
You can shoot high........ you can shoot low. You won't know! Or just shoot ahead of you as you walk. Maybe once in a while, shoot behind you."
I really enjoyed this challenge, and shot MANY photos that I really liked, but what side of my town do I show? The sometimes seedy underbelly of a suburban city, filled with angsty teens who think not getting that new Mercedes for their sweet 16 is a complete rip off? So much so that they start small fires in the HS parking lot?
There are others, teens who work to better this world by recycling and gardening:
There is the storm ravaged streets:
And we have at least one fan of Bansky here:
We also have some very disturbed person setting up this tableau in my neighborhood:
OR, do I show the more pleasant and pastoral side of my town? The one where seed pods from trees await the coming rain:
And fences make lovely shadows on clean sidewalks:
And neighbors collect old trucks that look nice:
Where flowers and trees sway in the breeze:
Happy Friday all!

Tableau Tuesday 2/22/2011
Trying to get back in the habit of shooting and processing quickly, and participating in weekly challenges. I'm taking my camera for walks around my neighborhood, and using a stripped down rig, to make it easier to carry and manuever.

Music Monday and Weekend Wrap Up
This weekend was overall good. Didn't have any plans, though The Boys did.
Friday - The Oldest had DI after school, and I spent the time working and starting laundry. The Dude did the grocery shopping. The evening was pretty quiet.
Saturday - The Oldest had DI from 10-1, and I went for a hike during that time. It was a 30-40 degree rise at the start, which would take 5 minutes for someone who is in good aerobic health. That would not be me. My hiking partner is a yoga instructor who does that hike regularly. I had to stop 5 times on the way up, but felt great the rest of the hike (at the top of a ridge nearby). It was rainy and muddy the entire time, and we had tea and a visit afterward to warm up and dry off. Because of the rain and mud, I wore my heavy boots, which are HEAVY, especially covered in mud. It rained pretty much all day, so I finished laundry and felt rather accomplished.
Sunday - The Youngest had DI from 10-1 and a playdate following that until 4. The oldest had tons of rehearsal to make up, for taking that time to finish a report on George Washington toward the end of the week. It wasn't rainy, so I went for a walk which got my brain back in alignment and helped to center me. I didn't listen to my iPod, and took my camera to shoot for Friday's challenge, and for tomorrow.
Monday - The Boys have the day off, and I do not. There was an emergency team meeting scheduled for 1:00, causing stress because lay-offs are coming around again. It was however to announce the promotion of a team member, so that was a good news meeting, and no need for stress, whew! The Oldest is auditioning for Sound of Music tonight, and is as ready as he will ever be. He's excited, and a little nervous.
He's singing this:
Because I made him pick something from a musical, and we saw Shrek The Musical in December. I told him to break a leg.

My Town Shoot Out - Curly
This week's Theme is courtesy of the My Town Shoot Out gang.
"This Friday our theme is Twisted. Curly Contorted. Wound Spirally.. I really don't know what to say about this topic. Maybe ropes, braids, chains. The meaning of contorted is - to twist, bend, or draw out of shape; distort."

Music Monday and Weekend Wrap Up
Oh, and Welcome new follower Rory - who I think must have been bludgeoned in the head over at Erin O'Brien, or thought at least one of my comments was pithy enough to warrant a visit here...
The weekend was...
Friday - Lunar New Year Feast at the school, rendering all students unable to do much of anything all afternoon. Followed by a hang out at a friend's. Had to leave early to get to my folks' for dinner where there was a ton of laughter courtesy of the 4 boys aged 7-13, and some awkward moments I can attribute to my Mother.
Saturday - was in an all day training for DI appraisers DI= Destination Imagination, and if you have no clue what that is, go here and check it out. Both boys are on teams this season, and are having a blast. Because I am assigned the scoring room, I have it particularly easy, and also was out of training by 12:30. That was a good thing because I had a TON of laundry, and we went to a vertical tasting of Rubicon wines. 1996-2005, and I was driving, so I wasn't drinking. Plus, as we have already heard, Red Wine is not my friend, though Sangria is a little more agreeable... The food and company were good, and got caught up with friends we hadn't seen in a while, though figured out it was because of a DUI arrest over the summer. REALLY didn't drink after that revelation... The dude made some plan to go to Mardi Gras without me. wtf... And the rest of the evening passed without incident.
Sunday - LAUNDRY, CLEANING, and I am disgusted by the level of filth in my house. Also shot a passport photo for a friend, bought Girl Scout cookies from another friend, and found out The Dude decided not to get a Valentine's card for me this year, which he announced upon returning from the store, "No cards this year, right?" I replied that I'd already done so last week, and he said, "oh". I won't get anything today. It's a bit disappointing. Also, a little weirded out by The Dude's desire to uninvite me to Mardi Gras. At first he didn't want to go because we will be there for less than 24 hours. I still want to go. Then, he thought he'd catch a ride, and I'd stay home. I still want to go. Now he's thinking of not going (either of us). I still want to go. There will be people at the party I would like to see, and likely make The Dude uncomfortable, I get that, but I still want to go. We'll see how this plays out...
And The Grammy's. I'm not usually a fan, but last year I was completely blown away and I was looking forward to that again this year. I wasn't as impressed. I did find out about Esperanza Spalding, who I hadn't heard about before. Want to see something impressive?
Was also impressed by Mumford and Sons:
The paranoia has lessened, though there is a heightened sense of awareness for the stupid, but trying to be sneaky methods of a person who is likely not happy with some actions I've recently taken.

Thoughtful Thursday
Hug and love those around you while you can. Please send love, light, positive vibes, prayers for the people in my life needing it this week:
Diane - chemo continues, she needs strength and love.
Audrey (U.S.) - just back from Mexico and continuing treatment.
Me, yes me - I need clarity of purpose and to determine how not to fall for people in my life, and just be happy with what I have. So I guess I need to be more grateful.
Love to you all!

Tableau Tuesday - yes on Wednesday
It took me a day to FINALLY process enough photos of past events to feel good about doing anything just for fun. And so, I am a day behind. I am stressed out and a little paranoid right now, so we'll see how this plays out. I've been in the same situation before, just not as up front about it...
